Before you finally choose your knitting example, take time to knit a work sample of your knitting example – however it isn’t this work sample, which you knit normally to measure the numbers of stitches in breadth and the rows in heightin centimeters. Only so you can compose your own opinion about the possibilities and the effect ofthe example after your form of knitting – especially if it’s a model of your phantasy. This sample wants to help you to decide a considered choice and to be familiar with the form of working of your example, before you begin with the real knitting.
Wide corded 3/3
The number of stitches is dividable by 6 plus 3, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 3 stitches right, 3 stitches left, constantly repeat from *, at last knit 3 stitches right and 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row and all following rows: Knit up all stitches like they appear. Fore- and backside look the same.
Wide corded 3/2
The number of stitches is dividable by 5 plus 2, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 2 stitches left, 3 stitches right, constantly repeat from *, at last knit 2 stitches left and 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row and all following rows: Knit up all stitches like they appear.
Wide corded 4/1
The number of stitches is dividable by 5 plus 1, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 1 stitch left, 4 stitches right, constantly repeat from *, at last knit 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row and all following rows: Knit up all stitches like they appear. This kind of rib pattern can be varied in any way.
Double corded 2/2
The number of stitches is dividable by 4 plus 2, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 2 stitches right, 2 stitches left, repeat from *, at last work 2 stitches right, 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row and all following rows: Knit up all stitches like they appear, i. e. right to left and left to right. Fore- and backside look the same.
Simple stripes
The number of stitches is dividable by 4 plus 1, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * lift off 1 stitch right, 3 stitches right, repeat from *, at last lift off stitch right, 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row: All stitches left. Repeat these both rows constantly.
Simple corded 1/1
The number of stitches is dividable by 2 plus 1, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 1 stitch right, 1 stitch left, constantly repeat from *, at last work 1 stitch right and 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row and all following: Knit up all stitches like they appear, i. e. right to right and left to left. Fore- and backside look the same.
False patent pattern
The number of stitches is dividable by 4 plus 1, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 2 stitches right, 2 stitches left, constantly repeat from *, at last work 1 stitch right and 1 stitch on the edge. Repeat this row constantly. Fore- and backside look the same.
Half patent pattern
The number of stitches is dividable by 2 plus 1, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 1 stitch right, lift off together 1 stitch with front-layed thread (like knitting left), which therefore forms a foldover, constantly repeat from *, at last work 1 stitch right and 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row: 1 stitch on the edge, 1 stitch left, knit together the lifted stitch with the right foldover, 1 stitch left, constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. Repeat both rows constantly. The backside's a patent pattern.
Fantasy strips
The number of stitches is dividable by 4 plus 2, plus 2 stitches on the edge. * 2 stitches left, 1stitch right, constantly repeat 1 stitch right and at last work 2 stitches left. 1st row: lift off 1 stitch on the edge, constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row: 1 stitch on the edge, 2 stitches right, 2 stitches left, 2 stitches right, constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. Repeat both rows constantly.
Plisse stripes
The number of stitches is dividable by 3 plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 2 stitches right, 1 stitch left, constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. Repeat both rows constantly. Fore- and backside look the same.
Patent pattern
The number of stitches is dividable by 2 plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: All stitches right. 2nd row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 1 stitch right, knit the following stitch low (see page 12), constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. Repeat the 2nd row: constnatly. Fore- and backside look the same.
Twisted corded 1/1
The number of stitches is dividable by 2 plus 1, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, 1 stitch twisted right (i. e. knit off the backmost wire netting), 1 stitch left, constantly repeat from *, at last work 1 stitch twisted right, 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row: Knit up all stitches as they appear. Repeat both rows constantly.
Twisted corded 2/2
The number of stitches is dividable by 4 plus 2, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 2 stitches twisted right (i. e. knit off the backmost wire netting), 2 stitches left, constantly repeat from *, at last work 2 stitches twisted right, 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row: Knit up all stitches as they appear. Repeat both rows constantly.
Displaced patent pattern
The number of stitches is dividable by 2 plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 1 stitch right, 1 stitch knitted low (see page 12), constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. 8th to 13th row: 1 stitch on the edge, * knit 1 stitch low right (like before), 1 stitch right, constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd to 13th row: repeat ongoing. At the 8th and 14th row do also grab the lifted stitch of the foregoing row, while knitting low.
